Our Leather

Inspired by the richness and longevity of old-school saddlery, Kingston Barn designs and handcrafts luxe, English Bridle leather goods for your equestrian lifestyle. The Heritage Collection features simple, timeless-modern designs to showcase the beauty of the leather. English Bridle has a flawless, even surface that is flexible and smooth to the touch. Yet, it is strong, durable, and weather resistant.

Everything in our studio is handcrafted with traditional leatherworking techniques and a meticulous attention to detail – like raw edges hand burnished with organic beeswax. Our premium, vegetable-tanned leathers are exclusively sourced from the most prestigious and historic tanneries in the USA that still use centuries-old, natural tanning techniques – Wickett & Craig, Horween and Hermann Oak.

English Bridle is a traditional style of vegetable-tanned leather with a variety of uses from classic equestrian tack to luxury leather goods. If well cared for, English Bridle leather is made to last decades and grows more beautiful with age.

Making this specialty leather is a labor intensive process that takes months – as opposed to most leathers on the market which are chemically tanned in only one day. Each tannery uses old world, vegetable tannages and secret recipes that contain tannin and other natural ingredients found in leaves, barks, woods, nuts, and more. Originally used for bridles and reins, only the finest US cowhides can be selected – then drum dyed and hot stuffed with waxes and tallows during the lengthy tanning process. Each hide is as unique as a snowflake and one of a kind.
